You probably can’t tell from the photos, but it was MUCH colder than we had anticipated out on top of the hill near the coulees. Mainly due to the wind of course, though I always love what a breeze can add to photos. Especially when wearing a dress! Anyway, it was just before spring solstice in Alberta so it certainly could have been much colder, and the snow had melted just enough for us to stay dry and get a beautiful, classic prairie view.
I’m so lucky to have captured this wonderful couple’s journey from engagement to wedding, and now maternity and soon I will get to meet their newborn! There is no greater feeling than being asked to document another exciting part of a couple’s life after seeing them tie the knot. Although Marni told me after the shoot that Marcus jokingly said he’s never taking photos with her again because every time the temperatures are way too extreme. I had to laugh because for their engagement shoot it was the dead of winter and probably close to 30 below, and on their wedding day it was so hot a patch of grass near the ceremony location actually caught fire. At least the newborn photos will be indoors!
Marni and Marcus are so kind and loving. I know they will be amazing parents. Plus they have great style! If you’re not sure what to wear for photos, these outfits are a prime example. Neutrals with a hint of colour and a pretty pattern – you really can’t go wrong!
